Miss K's Session

Miss K’s Session

1. What made you reach to do a boudoir shoot in the first place? Was. this for you and/or a gift?

A. I was struggling to come up with a birthday idea for my husband's 67th birthday. Initially I was thinking about a glamour photo shoot. I had googled glamour shots and somehow I stumbled upon Claire's website. I decided to give her a call and just discuss what a boudoir shoot was all about. I had never done any kind of professional photo shoot before so I had no idea what it involved. We chatted for quite some time that first phone call and I decided that I didn't need to look any further for a gift. This was it! I instantly felt very comfortable with her. We arranged a time for another phone call to set up all the arrangements for another day.

2. What were your fears around doing a boudoir session, if any?

A. My biggest fear was that I'm not much of a girlie girl and wasn't sure if I could look, "girlie." I hadn't worn makeup in 13 years, I never have my nails done and I'm covered in tattoos. In fact I was helping my husband work on his car the day before my shoot. Not such a feminine activity LOL. Also throw in the fact that I'm almost 62 years old and have been overweight all of my adult life until the last year and, well, you get the idea.

3. Did anything come up for you after you booked your session, such as insecurities, thoughts or feelings around your look?

A. Once I booked my session I set out to buy some lingerie since I didn't own ANY! I started out on Amazon and when things started arriving I began trying them on. That is when the doubt set in. I looked at myself in these ill fitting pieces and thought it was my look, not realizing that lingerie that isn't fitted well can do that. So I kept buying more things and became more and more discouraged. I thought that perhaps I had made a mistake. What was I thinking! There is no way I could look as good as the women in all the photos because I sure didn't look like that in my mirror at home! Time was passing and I still didn't have anything I felt comfortable and pretty in for my shoot. The thought crossed my mind that I should just cancel. That it was a stupid idea and it was going to be a big disaster. Insecurities big time! I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and now I was getting scared about that decision. Stepped back and gave it some thought before cancelling and decided that I could do this after all. I was just going about it all wrong. So I regrouped and took myself to Victoria's Secret to be properly fitted for the lingerie. That made all the difference in the world! A little confidence was coming back now.

4. How did you feel the morning of your session?

A. I was feeling really good by the day of the shoot. Claire had been with me, guiding me, every step of the way. So by time I got to the day of the shoot I felt I was completely ready to do this. Thank you Claire!!! You're awesome!

5. How did you feel during your session?

A. I never ever felt self conscious around Claire and Ariel. I was comfortable from the moment I walked in. In the beginning of the shoot I was having trouble posing as I'm very stiff due to certain surgeries, neck fusion etc. I thought that I wouldn't be able to get any sexy shots due to that. As the session went on it became easier to get the poses to make me look my absolute best. Claire worked around my limitations amazingly and produced some really beautiful photos. By the end of my session I was feeling so much confidence in myself! Claire has a way of removing your insecurities wonderfully!

6. How was your reaction to seeing your images for the first time?

A. I was seriously stunned and amazed. I had no idea how beautiful I was! My body is finally looking the way I want to look after many, many years of being overweight. All of the images were so amazing. It made it very hard to pick and choose which images to keep. I still look at my images daily or I'm showing them to someone. I am astonished at the beauty Claire brought out of me.

7. How do you feel now that you have completed your session and seen your images? What changes,if any, do you have about how you see yourself and your body?

A. I am so much more confident in myself. I feel so sexy and what a boost. It's been about a month since my shoot and I am still so excited that I did it. Senior citizen? No way! I feel as though I look better in my 60's than I did in my 30's and this session allowed me to truly see it for myself. I look forward to doing it again in my 70's!
