Miss M's Session

1. What made you reach to do a Boudoir shoot in the first place? Was this for you and/or a gift?

I had several reasons for wanting to do a boudoir photo shoot.

I had considered it many years ago when I was in my 30’s and early 40’s but just never got around to doing it. Raising my family was my priority at the time. Fast forward to beginning of this year when I was watching a television show where women my age were taking boudoir photos. They looked stunning. The photographer on their shoot said a woman is never too old to do these types of pictures. It started me thinking again. I had not been happy with my body for a few years now. At 66 I had saggy, loose skin and an expanding waistline. Everything was going south. I  just didn’t feel attractive any more even though my husband said I looked as sexy as ever. I needed to boost my self confidence up and I wanted to see myself as my husband sees me. In all  honesty, I wanted to feel and look like I did 25 years ago. I didn’t think it was possible but if I could at least shave 10 years off I would be happy.

2. What were your fears around doing a Boudoir session, if any?

I think my biggest fear was that I would look ridiculous at my age posing seductively while being scantily clothed. That ran through my head up until we started taking the photos. The post menopausal belly and cellulite on my legs and tush. What was I thinking?!  I am also a people pleaser and I worried that people would think I was crazy for even contemplating doing this.  I am happy to say that everyone was very supportive both before and after.

3.  Did anything come up for you after you booked your session,  such as insecurities, thoughts or feelings around you look?

Every time I brought home an outfit and tried it on I would have huge feelings of doubt. Nothing looked right. I felt too exposed. I felt stupid for even thinking I could pull this off. I over analyzed every part of my body.

I never thought about canceling the appointment though. I was determined to go through with it. There were days I felt the photos would turn out beautifully and others where I thought I wouldn’t find a good one in the bunch.

What did help was there was a woman who was In her 60’s who had her photo session a week before mine and her pics came out amazing. It gave me hope.

4. How did you feel the morning of your session?

The morning of my session I had a few jitters but mostly very excited. I finally was going to do this and I put myself in Claire’s very capable hands. She felt confident that my pics would turn out great so I did too. I was hoping hair, makeup, lighting and angles would bring out the best in me.

5.  How did you feel during the session?

Coming out of the changing room for the first time wearing next to nothing was intimidating. That was a hard one for me. Claire and Karen immediately got to work and had me posing right away. No chit chat about if I looked right in that red bodysuit or not. I didn’t feel at all that I was being judged which was one of my fears. Claire gave me detailed instructions of what she wanted me to do, and if I wasn’t getting it, she would come over and position my arms or legs exactly how she wanted them. I no longer worried about how I looked or if my tummy was bulging a little or my thighs looked fat. I felt pretty and sexy.

6. What was your reaction to seeing your images for the first time?

I was in total disbelief when I saw my pics for the first time. I came very close to shedding tears. I have always been known as the happy upbeat woman who says hello to everyone. More like the girl next door instead of a pinup. Here was a sultry woman who looked desirable and didn’t have a clue that she was in her 60’s. I am so proud of those photos. I have a large piece of wall art going up in my bedroom but have also decided to go with a smaller 8x10  sitting on the mantle of my fireplace.  They are a work of art and should be seen.

7. How do you feel now you have completed your session and seen your images? What changes if any do you have about how you see yourself and your body?

I now have a new spring in my step when I walk into a room. I have much more confidence in myself. I feel good about myself and it rubs off on the people around me. I have had some friends who still think I was crazy for doing this. I don’t care anymore about what people think. I feel great about doing this photo shoot at my age. My husband does too. That’s all that matters. If you are even thinking about doing a session with Claire, just book it. Don't overthink it otherwise you will miss out one of the most uplifting experiences ever.
